I put to use my experience as an English as a Second Language Teacher in creating practical worksheets, quizzes, games and videos that can be put to good use by teachers, parents and learners.

Teachers and parents can use this game to help children practise (BrE) / practice (AmE) their vocabulary for the Cambridge English Exams (Pre-A1 Starters).

The game uses many words from the Starters word list (for exams from 2018) and is structured thematically so that children can learn the words easily.

Classroom practice:

The class can be divided into 2 teams. The teams take turns trying to match the pairs. Each team can have 1 team captain or the team captain can be a different student each turn. The team captains should consult the other group members before selecting pairs. Both teams have to match all pairs in under 36 attempts. The team with the most points wins.

The words and pictures are reshuffled so the students can repeat the same category as many times as they want.

Independent practice:

The game is ideal for children to practise (BrE) / practice (AmE) the Starters word list (for exams from 2018) because they can work on their own and at their own pace.

The game is divided in three levels.

Level 1:

The children have 36 attempts to match all pairs. If they can't do it in under 36 attempts, the game ends.

Level 2:

The children have 28 attempts to match all pairs. If they can't do it in under 28 attempts, the game ends.

Level 3:

The children have 22 attempts to match all pairs. If they can't do it in under 22 attempts, the game ends.

The words and pictures are reshuffled so the children can repeat the same category as many times as they want.
